FAQs

  1. Is Devi-Labs an in-person program?

Yes! Starting in the fall of 2021, Devi-Labs classes will be held in-person at the Pilsen Arts & Community House. COVID-19 protocols will be maintained, and class sizes will be maxed at 12 people each.

  2. Where are the classes held?

As of now, Devi-Labs is operating out of Pilsen Arts & Community House. Please check our classes page for full class details.

  3. When do the classes run through?

Please checkout our classes page for full class details.

  4. Who teaches the classes?

Classes are taught by industry professionals. Some of our instructors have degrees in Computer Science, and others have gone through bootcamps. Whatever their journey, they are here to mentor you in yours!

  5. Who can join?

Devi-Labs currently works with adult women and gnc (gender non-conforming) people. Since classes are held in person, class members will need to be able to commute to their center. All centers now require a COVID-19 vaccine, so please have a valid COVID-19 vaccination card prior to registration.

  6. Do I need to know fluent English?

No! Every teacher or co-instructor is fluent in the native languages of your community center. The aim is to create a safe space for questions, and to help you better understand the material. Our registration includes questions around your fluency in english and any other languages you prefer.

  7. Will I need any tech equipment to join?

Currently, Devi-Labs will require members to bring their own laptops or handheld tablets that can access the internet. In the future, Devi-Labs hopes to provide members with the necessary technology.

  8. Do I need tech experience to join?

No, not at all! Our current classes are geared towards programming beginners. The classes will help members navigate all technologies used.

  9. Can I take multiple classes?

We suggest sticking to one class at a time unless outlined in the class description, pace yourself. Learning more than one programming language at a time will be very confusing.
